ARTDOCS is a medical program designed to assist artists without health insurance. Dr. Vincent Morelli and artist/gallery owner Jonathan Ferrara founded ARTDOCS in June of 1999 to address a critical need in the New Orleans arts community: struggling visual artists, writers and performing artists needing both routine and emergency healthcare who do not have the means to afford even basic healthcare services or insurance. ARTDOCS has given the members of the New Orleans creative community a place to turn to address their often-overlooked medical concerns. ARTDOCS is one of the first programs of its kind in the country.
ARTDOCS has provided for the arts community of Nashville since 2009, offering medical care to artists without health insurance. A nonprofit organization, ARTDOCS provides care for visual artists, writers, musicians, poets and performers—It nurtures the creative culture that is Nashville. ARTDOCS is the first program of its kind in the country.
ARTDOCS Nashville was started in November 2009 to serve a critical need for healthcare in the under-served and artistic community. The Nashville chapter was founded by Elaine Wood, gallery owners Sera Davis- Cremona, Samantha Callahan, David Hawks, Jeff Rhymer and Susan Tinney, and doctors Roger Zoorob, Millard Collins, Carol Ziegler, and Vince Morelli.
